Brooklyn based, multi-branch boutique hair salon, [salon]718, came to us for a complete website overhaul. Preparing to launch their 4th location, they felt it was a key time to ensure that their online presence was as modern, approachable and awesome as their in-salon one.
We worked closely with the company’s marketing strategist to develop a focused understanding of the salon’s core customer base. Development of a refreshed visual look for the website hinged on successfully conveying the feeling of inclusivity and energy inherent in the [salon]718 experience. Through the use of diverse imagery and plenty of moving video we were able to establish a strong representation of the salon’s core brand message, allowing the videos to stand out by combining them with controlled typography and generously-applied white space. This representation of [salon]718’s voice was also reflected in the copy that was written for the site, embodying that cool, vibrant spirit that Brooklyn is all about.
As well as their ethos of inclusive beauty, the salon has been working toward becoming a zero waste, sustainable business. Therefore, part of the redesign called for a full integration with their salon management software, through which they take bookings, sell gift vouchers and manage stylist’s availability.
The combination of brand direction, vibrant design and messaging developed by Journey is engaging customers on a sensory level that is genuinely reflective of the [salon]718 experience whilst helping to establish this progressive business in the marketplace.
